Technical implications of new IUPAC elements in cheminformatics
The symbols for the new IUPAC elements named in November 2016 can introduce subtle ambiguities within cheminformatics software. The ambiguities are described and demonstrated by highlighting inconsistencies between software when handling existing element symbols.

Given a non-negative integral m × n matrix A : I × J → ZZ+, the game Seki is defined as follows. Two players R and C take turns and it is specified who begins (this player is called the first and the opponent second). By one move a player can either reduce a strictly positive entry of A by 1 or pass. If both players pass then the game results in a draw. Player R (respectively, C) wins if a row ...
متن کاملDIMACS Technical Report 2007 - 09 September 2007 Process Grammar
This report gives an exposition of the Process-Grammar, published originally in the journal Artificial Intelligence in 1988, together with a description of some of the subsequent applications of the grammar in meteorology, biology, computer-aided design, chemical engineering, and geology. The Process-Grammar is a means of recovering the process-history of a smooth shape from its curvature extre...

We present a simple, operatingsystem independent method to reduce the number of seek operations and consequently reduce the energy consumption of a hybrid storage device consisting of a hard disk and a flash memory. Trace-driven simulations show that migrating a tiny amount of the address space (0.0001%) from disk to flash already results in a significant storage energy reduction (12%) at virtu...
متن کاملLiquid intrusion and alternative methods for the characterization of macroporous materials (IUPAC Technical Report)*
This document deals with the characterization of porous materials having pore widths in the macropore range of 50 nm to 500 μm. In recent years, the development of advanced adsorbents and catalysts (e.g., monoliths having hierarchical pore networks) has brought about a renewed interest in macropore structures. Mercury intrusion–extrusion porosimetry is a well-established method, which is at pre...
